Ford 1.0L EcoBoost in America

Bigger is not always better when it comes to engines. In fact, one of the engines currently taking the world by storm is a seemingly simple three cylinder, 1.0L EcoBoost from Ford. Though modest on the initial look, the engine’s inherent practicality is racking up awards on an international stage. For drivers in the States, we look forward to receiving the Ford 1.0L EcoBoost in America later this year.

Already available in markets outside the United States, Ford is making a strong case that engine displacement isn’t an end-all factor. The amount technology used within the engine is significantly more important. Like every EcoBoost engine, the Ford 1.0L is equipped with a turbocharger and direct fuel injection. The engine also uses an unconventional balance configuration that provides a smooth and vibration-free ride for the driver. Specifically tuned friction reducing engine elements contribute to the motor’s smooth ride as well.

The technology in Ford’s 1.0L EcoBoost engine makes it an incredible combination of fuel efficiency and unsuspecting power.

But enough about the engine itself. The most impressive part of this engine’s story is the acclaim it has been building over the course of the last two years. In 2012, the Ford 1.0L EcoBoost took home the International Engine of the Year award. This year, the engine defended its crown, receiving the highest score in the history of the award.

If that’s not enough to get excited about the Ford 1.0L EcoBoost in America, the accolades continue. Each year a panel of international judges from Woman’s World votes on the Woman’s World Car of the Year. Though the efficient three cylinder appears in a number of Ford models globally, the 2013 Woman’s World Car of the Year award went to the 1.0L EcoBoost equipped Ford Fiesta. UK judge Victoria MacMillan Bell sums up the Fiesta’s victory saying “The Fiesta has such a high-end look and feel to it. Pair this with the multi award-winning 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine and this very stylish pocket rocket wins in every category, with bells on.”

When Castrucci of Alexandria receives the Ford 1.0L EcoBoost in America, it will be under the hood of Ford Fiestas later this year. Stay tuned to the Castrucci of Alexandria blog for any additional information on the Ford 1.0L EcoBoost and the 2014 Fiesta.
